Evaluation Question 4

Evaluation Question 3

Image
For evaluation question 3 I have looked at my audience feedback and what I can learn from it.  Below you can see that I have analysed my audience feedback by looking at each question. I wanted to be able to see what peoples opinions were on my final tasks. I set up a questionnaire on Google forms which is a new website for me. It has allowed me to be able to produce a questionnaire very quickly and easily. Being able to look at the responses is so easy as well, you can see what all the answers were all on one page without having to go through them individually. . From what I can see from my analysis of my audience feedback I can see that overall people enjoyed my final tasks and there wasn't too much that people would change which is a very good thing, but there were a few things people brought up- The first thing was that someone said that it looked too much like a Christmas magazine, but as it is a December edition then I think maybe I should have made it c...

Ancillary Task 2- Website

Image
For my last ancillary task I have designed  a website for my regional magazine called "Discover Devon" Here I have inserted screenshots of my magazine before I had finished it. I created the website using 'google sites' As I had never used the programme before I had to start from scratch. This programme is very easy to use and it is a simple design to work with. There is also not too many options on this website to make you confused. I started by trying to see  how I wanted the layout and the images to be inserted so I could see the theme that was being produced. Visit my final website here- https://sites.google.com/view/ discoverdevon

Ancillary Task 1- Billboard

Image
Above is my first ancillary task. This is the first ancillary task out of the two and I am very pleased with how it has come out. Below is my draft, which you can see isn't that different to my final piece. I needed the images to stand out more on my final piece therefore I applied a drop shadow to do this. Which I have shown below how I created this effect.

Final Production

Image
From creating the four pages of my regional magazine, I have been able to learn new skills from when I created part of a magazine last year. While creating my magazine, I have been able to learn more about using software Photoshop to edit photos and create my magazine on.  From using Photoshop, I have been able to include more professional looking images and minus parts like advertising for brands, shops etc and sometimes make the images either lighter or darker. I have also learnt how to do quick little tricks to be able to do something quicker. Also, I have taught myself how to make my photos blend in with other images. Also, I have been able to put drop shadows on my shapes and images to be able to make them stand out. Overall, I am very happy with my final magazine pages and really like the overall look that I have portrayed.

Writing my article

Within my double page spread I will need to have a article that is related to my theme of the double page images. It is headlined 'Enchanted Saltrum' I am going to be speaking about what its like there, what there is to do and things to eat and drink. I went with my mum and my Nan to collect information and images to use for my magazine and it was very successful. It helped me get a feel for what I wanted my layout to be. I want my article to be very easy reading and I would like all audiences  to be able to read it. What could be better than mistletoe, bauballs and the red glow of Christmas? National Trust have created just the place 'Enchanted Saltrum' from Wednesday 30th November- Sunday 1st January they're opening their gates for all of their visitors. This year you can journey into a fairytale of your own as the rooms have never been dressed for Christmas before. Take a walk into the rabbit hole that Alice is found in or take a peak at sleeping b...

Changes to double page spread.

Image
After looking through magazines I changed my mind on how I wanted my double page spread to be, I thought it had too much stuff going on so therefore I change the layout of what it looked like. I took out 2 pictures and expanded one of them to cover the whole p age and a bit more of the other side. Also, I changed where the title of the page was put- Before it was over the main photo but now it is on its own in a light purple colour which draws attention to something else rather than the photos themselves. I like the layout of the text better on the second one as I think it will be easier to read and follow along better than the other one did as it looked out of place. I have seen many magazines with the text laid out like this and I think that it looks very effective and in order.

Billboard analysis (Ancillary)

Image
I produced this billboard analysis so that I could see what I wanted mine to look like and the features that it would need, from doing this I think that I can see exactly what I need to put in my billboard for my magazine. My mains points that I need to include are- Bright contrasting colours are needed for them to be able to stand out from the background of the blue sky. Also, any writing on the billboard needs to be clear and contrast the background colour.  The text needs to be minimal so that drivers can read it when they're driving past without getting too distracted from trying to read too much. That is the last thing a company would want is to cause a crash because the person was trying to read their billboard. A big simple image is good, it allows the audience to see exactly what is being advertised without having to think about what the billboard is trying to explain/say.

Ancillary Task Research

Image
After researching billboards I have decided that I would like mine to stand out just like the ones above. Researching billboards has helped me see all of the ideas that there are and also the different effects that they give.

Draft double page spread

Image
After finishing this I have decided that this is the idea that I want to use, I love the theme and the images but there is a lot to change and rearrange with trying to make it look like a proper magazine double page spread. If this was going to be my final piece I know that many things would have to be change such as- The spacing within the text doesn't look profession, it looks scruffy and mismatched. I would make it all square and equal. I would do this to produce a crisp and clear line between the text and the photos.  There no page numbers which would need to be on there as it would not be a proper double page spread- This would need to be added to my final pages.  I would make sure that all of the images looked as if they go together, I may even fade them into the background.
